It’s not often that I agree with John Chow, but I think this time he’s hit the nail on the head.

One of his readers asked him “At what point should I quit?“, because blogging wasn’t producing any results and (more importantly) wasn’t fun any more.

John’s response “If It’s No Longer Fun, Quit” is pretty much spot on, although I’m not sure that “fun” is the right word for everyone.

For many people, blogging is a job – or at least a source of extra income that would be missed if it wasn’t there all of a sudden. If you’re in that position, you should probably put a little bit of thought into what you’re going to do to replace that income.

But if you’re blogging for fun and it’s no longer giving you any enjoyment, then I completely agree – go find something else that is fun. You’ll almost certainly find you’re more productive and you’ll get more out of doing that than you will from stressing because you haven’t updated your blog in the last 3 days.
