One of the hardest things about committing to writing a blog regularly is coming up with new material to write about.
One way to do it is to keep a close eye on what other bloggers in your niche are talking about, but if you rely on that, you’re always ‘behind the times’, commenting on what other people have said. So here’s another suggestion: Use SEO keyword tools to get ideas for new posts.
I was playing around with Aaron Wall’s SEO tools the other day and was able to come up with 3 or 4 new ideas for posts within a couple of minutes.
The idea is simple. Type in keywords related to your blog or things you’ve written about in the past, and use the suggestion tools to come up with new, related keywords.
This is a good idea for a couple of reasons. First, these suggestion tools can tell you about the terms that people are actively searching for. By writing posts specifically based around popular search terms, you can get that traffic to come right to you.
Secondly, it can also show you the terms that advertisers are bidding for. That’s really important if you’re trying to make money from your blog… after all, there’s little point in trying to make money by writing a post that advertisers aren’t interested in advertising on.
There are loads of keyword suggestion tools out there that you can use to get ideas for your posts, so why not give it a go? If nothing else, it might help relieve that writers’ block that we all suffer from time to time.
