MediaWhiz, owner of both ShoppingAds and AuctionAds have merged their ad networks under the ShoppingAds name.
The new ShoppingAds features a combination of CPA (cost per acquisition) and CPC (cost per click) payouts, although it seems only “Premium” publishers get access to the CPC ads.
As to how you become a “Premium” publisher, that appears to be based purely on traffic quality, which seems to make sense. Send them good quality traffic and you’ll get rewarded for it.
I’m currently trialing ShoppingAds on Fotonomy, and I’ll report back on how it goes.

1The shopping adverts I’ve seen simply click through to Ebay, without even taking you to a particular item. Wouldn’t you be better off signing up for Ebay’s direct referral program?

2Cliff: I just checked and you seem to be right. They should, of course, direct you to the auction you actually clicked on.
The whole point of ShoppingAds is that you don’t have to bother with the over-complicated eBay program, and they precisely target ads for current auctions for you. That seems not to be how it’s working right now. :(

3If you’re already a ShoppingAds user, or considering becoming one, you should check out emptyspaceads – turn your website’s empty space into cash (a product I left my full-time job at Microsoft to build), which allows you to put ShoppingAds units in your website’s empty space. After all, when was the last time you made any money from your site’s empty space? Better yet, you don’t have to give up any existing ad units to run emptyspaceads. Keep what works!
