When looking for a credit card, you will notice that many things affect what type of card you can get. At first, you will hope to get a card with a low interest rate and lots of rewards. The problem is, that isn’t always possible. If you have bad credit or no credit, it may be very difficult or even impossible to get a good credit card.

If you have bad credit, it is because you haven’t managed credit well in the past. Maybe you didn’t pay loans or credit card bills on time or maybe you missed payments. This will all affect your credit rating and affect how well you can get credit either in the form of a loan or a credit card. If you have no credit, it is because you have never taken out a loan or used any type of credit before. It can be equally difficult to get credit in this situation.

In the case of not having credit, you might wonder how it’s possible to get credit if you can’t get a loan or card without having previous credit. For those with no and bad credit, there is a way to get credit without getting a high priced credit card. You can get a secured credit card.

A secured card is when you put down a security payment which will equal your credit limit. This money will usually go into a CD that you will receive back at the end of a year with interest. You will essentially be borrowing your own money but this will prove to the credit bureaus that you can manage credit. The best thing about it is that you don’t need to worry about being approved because because you aren’t risking the card company’s money.

Finding the best secured credit cards isn’t hard. Just make sure you are looking for the right aspects. Find a card with a minimum deposit that you can afford (when you apply for secured credit cards you have to pay a deposit). Many come with a minimum of $200 to $500. Look for a low interest rate, but plan on paying your balance in full each month because their is no reason to pay interest to borrow your own money, and this will improve your credit, too. Also, look for a low annual fee. Most will have this, but some are much higher than others. There are plenty of great secured cards out there. Make sure you do your research!
