One of the things I’ve noticed about other blogs in my niche lately is just how little thought many bloggers give to spelling and grammar.
There are exceptions of course, but I’ve noticed far too many bloggers are simply not reading their posts before hitting the “Publish” button.
Now these bloggers might argue that they don’t have the time, it doesn’t matter because they’re successful anyway, or even that English isn’t their first language. And in truth, how they write their blogs is entirely up to them. But I can’t help thinking they’d attract (and maintain) a few more readers if they just paid a little more attention to detail.
There have been at least two occasions recently where I’ve given up reading someone’s blog post because I simply couldn’t understand it.
So here’s my tip for today: If you’re going to spend half an hour writing a blog post, it’s worth investing an extra five minutes to proof read it. If you can’t understand what you’ve written yourself, it’s highly unlikely your readers will be able to!

2I agree. It’s more enjoyable to read well-constructed sentences with correct spelling and grammar.
But then, shoemoney is right too :)

3Yeah, spelling and grammar plays a large role in a blog’s success. I always proofread my posts before I click “Publish”. Make it a habit, guys!
