A couple of weeks ago, I asked the question “What’s a subscriber worth?“, and after doing some very basic calculations, I came to the conclusion that a subscriber in my niche (”Make Money Blogging”) was worth somewhere between $12 and $30.
Interestingly, someone else has been trying to figure out that magic number, but using a completely different set of data.
Mark at 45n5.com noticed that a number of blogs in the sector had recently come up for sale, and did a simple calcuation - sale price divided by number of subscribers. But the interesting thing is, he came up with a very similar figure to me: $27 - $35.
Now obviously, the value of a blog depends on many more factors than just the number of subscribers alone, but if you’re starting out, that figure of roughly $30 per subscriber is a great incentive to increase your own figures.
So if you’re not already doing so, head on over to Feedburner and sign up - it’s by far the easiest way to keep track of how many people are subscribed to your blog.
And in case you’re wondering, after 25 days of blogging, Money Blogger has 50 subscribers, which gives it a theoretical value of around $1500 - not that I plan on selling up just yet!
Subscribe to Money Blogger (and increase its value by $30!)

1Interesting that you both came up with similar figures. The sale of a blog definitely consists of more than just subscriber numbers, but it’s a good starting point and could be helpful in ballparking a blogs worth.
p.s. you have another $30 ;)
