I’ve been using Text-Link-Ads on my other sites since April, so I wanted to give a specific example of how TLA enabled me to kick start a site that previously made very little revenue.
If you don’t already know, TLA allows you to sell “hard coded” text links on your site. Advertisers benefit because not only do they get click-throughs from your site, but they also get a little bit of “juice” from you - PageRank from being linked do. You benefit because advertisers are prepared to pay a little bit more for this kind of link.
One of my sites sells ringtones and mobile phone graphics. I designed and built the site myself, but all the content comes from a third party supplier. It has a good PageRank, but prior to adding TLA, it only ever made a few sales a day.
The day after I added the TLA code to the site, I started getting advertisers in, and very quickly the site was pulling in $200/month in ad revenue. This was a bit of a surprise to me, so I decided to invest that money back into advertising the site. As a result, I was able to pull in more traffic and increase sales.
But this increase in traffic had another side affect - the cost of ads on my site went up with the increased traffic, meaning this previously dormant site is now pulling in several hundred dollars a month.
Text Link Ads are a fabulous way of monetizing a site that may have been lying around doing nothing for a while, but if you’re prepared to put some of that revenue back into promoting your site, you can really start to grow your profits.
